Press and Media
For the Media
The Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail (MVRT) and Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) is owned by the State of Vermont and maintained by the Vermont Agency of Transportation, and countless volunteers. The Northwest Vermont Rail Trail Council advises the State on management and use issues.
The Northwest Vermont Rail Trail Council is made up of representatives from the communities through which the MVRT and LVRT passes. Volunteer enthusiasm is the hallmark of the Council, a non-profit organization that represents communities along the trail, trail users, and local businesses. The Council advises the State on trail issues, assists trail users, and helps make trail improvements. It also raises funds for maintenance projects and amenities. In recent years the Council has worked with the Northwest Regional Planning Commission to secure a number of important grants for trail branding, marketing, wayfinding, and signage.
